His achievements include driving cost reduction programmes, implementing efficiency improvements, and successfully managing a team of over 80 staff. | | Distinguished Military Career | Mick's 23-year career in the British Royal Air Force (RAF) is marked by progressive leadership roles. As a Chief Aircraft Engineer for 216 Squadron at RAF Brize Norton, he managed the standards and welfare of 40 personnel while maintaining the RAF's TriStar fleet. His responsibilities included programming aircraft tasking, resolving engineering challenges, and presenting strategic plans to senior executives. | | As the TriStar Airframe Systems Instructor, Mick designed and taught the comprehensive 30-day TriStar Airframe Systems Course, conducting training needs analyses, developing syllabi, and creating innovative training materials. His work enhanced the capabilities of RAF personnel and set a benchmark for technical education. | | Engineering and Pilot Role in the British Virgin Islands | On loan to the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Mick served as the Engineer and Co-Pilot for a drug surveillance operation in the British Virgin Islands. As the sole engineer for a PA-31 Piper Navajo aircraft, he managed all maintenance, defect rectification, spares procurement, and hangar operations. He also gained an FAA Pilot Licence and flew over 400 sorties on anti-drug patrols and joint operations with the DEA, US Customs, US Coast Guard, and Royal Navy, as well as local BVI agencies. He transported VIP dignitaries, including royalty and Members of Parliament. | | This role demanded technical precision, rapid decision-making, and coordination with international agencies, demonstrating his adaptability in complex and challenging environments.
